The Organature Australian Hardwood Cot has 2 base height positions for several different stages of growth from new born baby through to toddler, and is constructed according to productsafety.gov.au.
The top position provides the ideal depth to use as a bassinet, next down is the normal height for a cot when baby is ready to leave the bassinet and starts to stand up.
Then a beautiful and comfortable toddler bed can be created by removing one of the side panels, allowing a more active and independent toddler, to get in and out of bed safely and easily.
The toddler bed format requires additional bolts which are included with your cot.
YOUR CHOICE OF COT HEIGHT: Available in a range of height variations (from floor to top of the cot rail) – 105 cm (our standard height), 100 cm, 95 cm or 91 cm of you would like it a little shorter.
COT DIMENSIONS: Overall Size (mm) 1392 (L) x 763 (W) x 1052 (H). The cot slat base for a standard 1050 mm height cot sits from floor to lowest level 315 mm, to highest level 540 mm (height difference is 225 mm).

These items are carefully packaged and sent from our hygienic factory in Victoria and freight is charged according to your postcode. If you select ‘Pick up from store’ – this will still incur a $75 fee for transport from our craftsman/factory to our shop in Newhaven.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OTHER BABY COTS AND CRADLES SOLD IN AUSTRALIA:
Did you know that most conventional wooden furniture is made using toxic glues and finishes? Imported timber must be fumigated before it can enter the country.
Most cots and cradles sold in Australia are imported, the majority are made in China. One cot we researched is made in Australia from imported timber, these timbers ARE fumigated. Some suppliers of cots are claiming made with ‘Australian timber’, this may be true but they send the timber to China to produce the furniture more economically! What happens when it’s returned back to Australia? Australian quarantine regulations requires fumigation of timber and timber products. Fumigation chemicals are harmful to health, and a possible cause of SIDS. Some cots and cradles are also made here with MDF, full of formaldehyde, another cause of SIDS? Glued and finished with petro chemical paint and stain, another cause of SIDS? — It’s not worth the chance.
Because of this, we found it necessary to manufacture our own AUSTRALIAN HARDWOOD TIMBER FURNITURE from local Victorian Mountain Ash. NO Toxic chemicals, NO MDF, NO Chipboard, NO Chemical Paint and NO Toxic Glues are used during any part of the manufacturing process. Brown Sawmills are members of Australian Forest Standard, SAI Global certified system and PEFC, assuring sustainability and keeping down carbon footprints. There is no fumigation used in the processing of any of our timber products. There are no harmful chemicals to out-gas in either the construction of our furniture or in the finish either.

We recommend our mattress underlay on a slat base, our mattress protector on the mattress first, then place the fleece mattress overlay with the fleecy side facing up, on next.
If you would like more protection for the mattress – which is a great idea especially for babies or if you are concerned about other potential soiling – we suggest putting a mattress protector pad in sleeping positions, then finishing with a fitted sheet.
Mattresses should never be placed directly on to the floor. They need to breathe to avoid mould growth, common with conventional mattresses.
Our Certified Organic Cotton is a natural product that has airflow as it is a breathing product. This in turn allows your body to breathe and naturally rejuvenate itself from the toxins picked up from the environment during the day, releasing them while you sleep, which is just one of the many benefits of the Organature mattress.

There’s a big difference between ‘natural’, ‘organic’ and truly chemical free ‘Certified Organic’. Organature® Mattresses are unique to Australia, assembled and filled with the purest ingredients, manufactured to the highest standards and with the cleanest transporting currently available in Australia. Free from dangerous toxic chemicals like those used to create waterproofing, insect proofing and flame proofing. Health and well-being is our priority!
Regularly rotate and flip your new organic cotton innerspring or futon mattress when you first start using it. Usually, turning every few weeks within the first few months is adequate, so long as the bed base you are using is one that allows full airflow around the mattress.
Make sure that your organic cotton mattress is not placed against walls or furnishings (such as curtains or solid bed heads), as these will prevent sufficient air flowing around all sides of the mattress too. A lack of airflow will cause a build-up of condensation which will in turn create conditions that often lead to the growth of mould, especially when placed against something that is not natural or chemical free — that is why using our Hardwood Slat Bed Bases are so strongly recommended. As many layers of carded cotton are used to create the sleeping surface, the mattress will have a rounded look until the cotton settles. The body will flatten this cotton, and the regular rotating and flipping over, of the mattress, helps the soft cotton wadding layers to settle. If no-one sleeps in the middle area of the mattress, that middle area will not settle.
On larger mattresses, someone is advised to sleep or lie in the middle section/area of both sides of the mattress, to help the ‘middle / central’ wadding layers to settle; otherwise, the middle area will remain soft, fluffy and slightly raised. The cotton can take a couple of weeks, to a month or more to settle (flatten), depending on the weight, and time spent on it.
