Our NEW Innerspring Mattress – 100% Certified Organic Cotton and Organic Latex
Our NEW Innerspring mattresses are made in Melbourne, Australia, with a Certified Organic, GOLS, (Global Organic Latex Standard), 50mm ‘breathing’ latex centre core surrounded by GOTS Organic Cotton providing a greater resilience, and for adults a slightly softer, yet still firm, surface to sleep.
A medium-firm to firm mattress with quality springs for comfort and long life. Available in sizes from Single to King and delivered directly to your home, anywhere in Australia. All sizes are still available with 100% Organic cotton.
For a comfortable night’s sleep, FREE from harmful toxic chemicals. Manufactured with 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton Fabric and Filling surrounding the GOLS organic latex . We are again using Australian Made mattress springs from a new manufacturer.
It is important to note that these mattresses are NOT put on to a flexi slat base. The use of ‘box frame’ bases is also not suitable due to irregularities in the sizing of mattress, because of the puffiness of cotton.
Innerspring Mattress Sizes:
- Single 920 × 1900mm
- King Single 1070 × 2030mm
- Double 1370 × 1900mm
- Queen 1530 × 2030mm
- King 1830 × 2030mm
Approx. 25cm side walls.
Please note:
- The sizes above are approximate and may vary slightly
- As the mattresses are pure cotton, the King size are heavy to move
- We regret that special size innerspring mattresses are currently no longer available. As an alternative we suggest our organic cotton futon which can be made to your measurements.
Please read and review the following information before placing your order
Important Reading before you place an order:
Our 100% GOTS Organic Cotton with GOLS Organic Latex is a breathing mattress. The 5cm GOLS latex core in our mattresses contain some chemicals, (all latex mattresses have, some more than others.) ‘GOLS’ certification allows max. 5%, providing they are not harmful. Our mattress is made with a greater ratio of Organic cotton filling and fabric than the amount of latex pad, making the chemical content a maximum 2.5%, or less.
If you would like to discuss or get any further information before you order, don’t hesitate to, contact us.
Please Note
*Please note that under the Health Act, Pillows, Underlays, Quilts, Bed Toppers, Mattresses, Futons and Pillow Protectors are NON-REFUNDABLE unless faulty.
Latex manufacturing information provided by Organature’s supplier:
Latex (pads) used by Organature is certified under GOLS. GOLS certified Latex can only be Dunlop latex. (Talalay, the other latex, has no certification).
First developed in 1929, Dunlop is the original manufacturing process for latex foams, and the process (as follows) has not changed much since then:
- Liquid latex extract together with a maximum 5% non-harmful chemicals is mechanically whipped to form a frothy foam.
(Note: Some other websites state 100% natural latex, which is not possible). - The frothy material is placed in a mould
- The material is baked in a vulcanization oven
- The baked latex is removed from the mould and washed thoroughly
- The material is baked again to remove moisture

However, along with our organic mattress protectors and organic mattress overlays or organic mattress protector pads, you are guaranteed to have the BEST ORGANIC WATER RESISTANT product that’s currently available in Australia today … and the safest!
No Polyurethane Foam. No Formaldehyde, No Chemical fire retardants, No Polyester, No Synthetics, No moth-proofing chemicals, No anti-dustmite chemicals, No ultra fresh chemical, No toxic Petro-chemicals.

- With care they will last longer than any other mattress. (Peter has had his 100% Organic Cotton Queen mattress since 2006 and it shows no deterioration.)
- Extremely re-saleable, (especially the cot mattress).
- More than 99% compostable and recyclable.
We recommend our mattress underlay on a slat base, our mattress protector on the mattress first, then place the fleece mattress overlay with the fleecy side facing up, on next.
If you would like more protection for the mattress – which is a great idea especially for babies or if you are concerned about other potential soiling – we suggest putting a mattress protector pad in sleeping positions, then finishing with a fitted sheet.
Mattresses should never be placed directly on to the floor. They need to breathe to avoid mould growth, common with conventional mattresses.
Our Certified Organic Cotton is a natural product that has airflow as it is a breathing product. This in turn allows your body to breathe and naturally rejuvenate itself from the toxins picked up from the environment during the day, releasing them while you sleep, which is just one of the many benefits of the Organature mattress.
It is for this reason also that we recommend the mattress be supported by a hardwood slat bed base. These allow the mattress to get continual air flow and assist your immune system even more. See our excellent range of non toxic Hardwood Bed Bases.
Organature Mattresses and Futons are made with GOTS Certified Organic Cotton fabrics and fillings
There’s a big difference between ‘natural’, ‘organic’ and truly chemical free ‘Certified Organic’. Organature® Mattresses are unique to Australia, assembled and filled with the purest ingredients, manufactured to the highest standards and with the cleanest transporting currently available in Australia. Free from dangerous toxic chemicals like those used to create waterproofing, insect proofing and flame proofing. Health and well-being is our priority!
Regularly rotate and flip (*Note that the Latex Innerspring mattress cannot be flipped but must still be rotated) your new organic cotton innerspring or futon mattress when you first start using it. Usually, turning every few weeks within the first few months is adequate, so long as the bed base you are using is one that allows full airflow around the mattress.
Make sure that your organic cotton mattress is not placed against walls or furnishings (such as curtains or solid bed heads), as these will prevent sufficient air flowing around all sides of the mattress too. A lack of airflow will cause a build-up of condensation which will in turn create conditions that often lead to the growth of mould, especially when placed against something that is not natural or chemical free — that is why using our Hardwood Slat Bed Bases are so strongly recommended. As many layers of carded cotton are used to create the sleeping surface, the mattress will have a rounded look until the cotton settles. The body will flatten this cotton, and the regular rotating and flipping over, of the mattress, helps the soft cotton wadding layers to settle. If no-one sleeps in the middle area of the mattress, that middle area will not settle.
On larger mattresses, someone is advised to sleep or lie in the middle section/area of both sides of the mattress, to help the ‘middle / central’ wadding layers to settle; otherwise, the middle area will remain soft, fluffy and slightly raised. The cotton can take a couple of weeks, to a month or more to settle (flatten), depending on the weight, and time spent on it.

Did you know that frequently present in conventional mattresses and bedding are *High Volatile Organic compounds (VOCs) like phosphorus, arsenic and antimony, and nerve toxins like formaldehyde, benzene, and toluene? Whether they be in the petroleum based, Polyurethane foam, the petroleum and chlorine-based Vinyl or PVC used for waterproofing (a known carcinogen, let alone, one of the most environmentally unfriendly plastics used today), or the petroleum based Fire Retardants … separately or together … they make up a toxic soup that is linked to immune suppression, hormone disruption, developmental delays, learning and memory problems, behaviour changes, and cancer.
