This sturdy timber bed base has a solid slatted timber 57 cm high ladder style head board and recessed legs to avoid stubbing toes. Solid 140 x 32 mm timber frame. Base of the mattress sits level with frame. The Windsor bed base is a mixture of two popular bed bases. The head board is from the Hawthorn (as pictured in main photo) and the base is the Barossa (see image in the gallery).
BED BASE OPTION THAT CAN FIT A TRUNDLE UNDERNEATH: If you would like to put a trundle underneath a bed like this, the Hawthorn Bed Base looks exactly the same but the legs are placed on the outside to allow for a trundle to go under smoothly. If you don’t need a trundle underneath, then this Windsor Bed Base is an ideal option.
BED HEIGHTS: Available in 30 cm and 36 cm, or a custom height between 37 and 60cm (please provide specific height details on the comments of your order).

ORGANIC FINISHES: Choose raw and sanded, or with natural plant and mineral based oil. We source our oils from Livos who have a range of other colours, you may choose to purchase raw and sanded and apply the oils yourself, here is a link to the Livos website: Livos. PLEASE NOTE: Our slat panels on the base of the bed are supplied raw and sanded. The slats are not seen once the mattress and bed linen have been placed on top. We believe it’s better to leave the slats themselves natural and reduce the risk of the oil being transferred onto your organic mattress.
ASSEMBLY: Our beds are not made for mattresses to sit inside a lip, so when constructing ensure the side frames of the bed are used with the small space facing up towards the ceiling. | 12/12/2018 | I bought the double Windsor Hardwood bed base choosing the plant based rosewood oil finish. It was delivered in December 2018, all carefully flat packed, ready for assembly. I thought I would have to get someone to help me to put it together but on tackling the task it was a breeze with everything lining up perfectly. Each part of the wooden bed base has been beautifully crafted, with the natural grain being highlighted and enhanced by the wonderful rosewood oil finish. It is certainly the most attractive bed base I have ever owned, with the head board being a most pleasing feature. The natural and toxin free wood of the bed base, as well as the incredible support from the slatted base, combined with the delightful aesthetic appeal, have all made such a difference to my health and my sleeping environment. I only wish I made the purchase sooner. I absolutely love my new Hardwood Windsor bed base. – Erica
Note that the Katherine (low-rise or mid-rise) is the only recommended bed base for our HIGHLY CHEMICALLY SENSITIVE customers.
SLATS on all beds are glued, however the Katherine low-rise or mid-rise is the only style of bed with no glue used, and for a minimal extra charge, can have screwed slats (so no glue used at all!).
Footnote: Minimal PVA glue is used on all our bases and furniture; it is sandwiched between timbers, dries rockhard within 10 - 20 minutes after application and does not outgas.
